The Northern Coastal Plain

Up the Mediterranean coast from Haifa is the port city of Akko (sometimes spelled Acre), full of mystery and ancient charm. A bit further north along the coast from Akko is Rosh HaNikra, located at the far northwest corner of Israel. The whole family will love the scenic cable car ride down to the grottoes — one of Israel’s most spectacular natural geological formations. And if your family is feeling adventurous, you’ll want to make time for a speedboat excursion off the coast between Akko and Rosh HaNikra.

The Galilee Region

The region known as the Galilee (Galil, in Hebrew) covers most of the northernmost part of the country, and options for families touring the area are plenty.
